Oneida Nation Homelands— “Raccoon & Crawfish,” the first 3-D animated short film created by the Oneida Nation’s Four Direction Productions, is a finalist in the Moondance International Film Festival, popularly known as the “American Cannes.” Moondance is one of the premier venues for the exhibition and promotion of feature and short films in the U.S. and one of the leading indie film festivals in the world.

“Racoon & Crawfish,” an ancient Oneida legend that points to the dangers of boasting and deceit, debuted at the Syracuse Film Festival in April and already has earned two bronze Telly awards – one in the Entertainment category and one in the Use of Animation category.

The film also will be shown July 18 at the Long Island International Film Festival.According to its Web site (www.moondancefilmfestival.com), Moondance was voted the “third most important film festival in the world” (after Cannes and Sundance) in an online poll of international film industry professionals. Moondance finalists and winners are regularly picked up for distribution worldwide, both for television and movie theaters. Three Moondance winners have gone on to be nominated for Academy Awards.After several years in Boulder, Colo., Moondance moves to Hollywood this year. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 7-9 at Universal Studios City Walk in Hollywood.{myspacevideocode7064820{/myspacevideocode}
