The company, active in 11 African nations, experienced its steepest decline in the region.

The company’s sales figures indicate that the decline almost came to a halt in the third quarter, with only a 0.25 percent drop, sales made between July and September totaling 240,000 tons against 240,600 tons in the same period in 2025.

Cement Sales Performance

In the first half, sales fell 13.1 percent to 596,800 tons, down from 686,700 tons the previous year. Of the 90,500 tons Dangote lost in sales over the nine-month period, 89,900 tons came from the first six months.

The slowdown in the decline did not indicate that Cameroon’s cement market has returned to growth. Dangote’s figures covered only its own operations and did not offer any indication of how overall cement demand or competitors’ sales have changed.

Production Capacity and Challenges

Dangote Cement has a total production capacity of 55.0 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) across 11 countries. The company’s cement plant in Douala, Cameroon, has an annual cement production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes. However, the facility depends on imported clinker to produce cement, making reliable supplies of the raw material important to its operations.

The company has announced a decision to double the annual production capacity of its Douala plant from 1.5 to 3 million tonnes by 2028. Details were not made available of the project’s cost and financing.

In contrast to Cameroon, several other countries where Dangote operates recorded strong growth. In Senegal, sales went up 29.9 percent, while Ethiopia saw 18.8 percent, and Congo peaked at 11.9 percent. However, Ghana recorded declined sales by 10.1 percent, and South Africa plant recorded a 6.1 percent sales decrease.

Between January and September 2026, Dangote shipped 1 million tonnes of clinker from Nigeria to Cameroon, Ghana, and CĂ´te d’Ivoire combined, showing an increase of 35.4 percent from 2025.

Cameroon Logistical Disruptions

Dangote Cement reported continued operational problems in Cameroon. A financial update partly blamed weaker performance on production disruptions from logistical problems that limited deliveries to distribution depots. The company did not disclose the duration or specific cause of these disruptions.

Outside Nigeria, sales in other African markets, including Cameroon, rose 14 percent. These sales reached 9.05 million tonnes between January and September 2026, up from 7.94 million tonnes last year.
