Cork-based energy solutions firm SE Systems has announced plans to create 150 new jobs over the next two years. This expansion forms part of a broader strategy to double the company’s annual turnover to €100 million by 2030.

EU Commissioner Michael McGrath revealed these plans during the inauguration of SE Systems’ new €3 million headquarters in Dublin Hill, Cork. The 15,000 sq ft facility will play a key role in supporting the company’s growth as it addresses increasing demand for energy efficiency, solar, and retrofit solutions.

National Expansion and Partnerships

In addition to the Cork headquarters, SE Systems intends to expand its Dublin office and forge new partnerships across Ireland. The company is particularly focused on growing its presence in Clare, Donegal, and Louth to meet the rising demand for decarbonization and energy management services.

Established in 2010, SE Systems collaborates with homeowners, businesses, and public sector organizations to implement energy efficiency initiatives. Currently, the company employs 112 staff and works with 300 subcontractors. To date, it has successfully retrofitted 15,000 homes and 2,000 commercial buildings, partnering with notable companies such as Tesco and Johnson & Johnson.

Job Creation and Skill Development

The 150 new positions will encompass roles in engineering, project management, energy services, software development, operations, technical support, and business development.

SE Systems is committed to workforce development through initiatives such as apprenticeships, graduate recruitment, and upskilling programs. These efforts aim to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of tackling Ireland’s energy challenges.

Environmental Impact and Sustainability

Since its founding in 2010, SE Systems has facilitated €1 billion in energy-saving grants for its clients. Its projects have resulted in significant environmental benefits, including savings of 1.6 billion kWh of energy and a reduction of 358,000 tonnes of CO2.

The company’s “one-stop-shop” approach simplifies the process for clients to access retrofitting grants, thereby reducing administrative complexities. This streamlined service not only supports sustainability goals but also contributes to lowering overall energy consumption.

Co-founder and CEO John O’Leary showed the company’s dedication to advancing Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon future. Managing Director Youenn Lowry emphasized the importance of nurturing the next generation of energy professionals to meet future demands.

EU Commissioner’s Remarks on SE Systems’ Growth

EU Commissioner Michael McGrath highlighted SE Systems as a successful homegrown business, praising its contribution to the renewable and green economy. He emphasized that renewable industries benefit both the environment and the economy by creating high-quality jobs and driving growth.

McGrath noted SE Systems’ strategic investments in planning, digital platforms, and energy monitoring technologies position the company to support organizations in transitioning to all-electric operations and reducing fossil fuel dependence.
